OUR IMPACT AT A GLANCE
Transforming Lives Through Faith, Compassion, and Community Action
For over 18 years, Esther Thelfid Foundation (ETF) has remained committed to transforming lives and strengthening communities through innovative public health interventions, gender-responsive programming, economic empowerment, advocacy, and community-led development.
From our humble beginnings as a family support initiative, ETF has grown into a respected national development organization working alongside government, development partners, civil society organizations, faith-based institutions, and communities to improve the lives of vulnerable populations across Nigeria.
Our work is driven by a simple belief:
Strong communities build strong nations.
Today, our impact extends beyond community service delivery to influencing national policy, strengthening health systems, promoting social justice, and empowering communities to become active participants in their own development.
18+ Years of Community Impact
For nearly two decades, Esther Thelfid Foundation has worked tirelessly to restore hope, strengthen families, and improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations.
Our journey has evolved from counseling distressed families and resolving community conflicts to implementing large-scale development programmes that address health, education, livelihoods, gender equality, and community resilience.
Throughout this journey, our focus has remained unchanged—empowering people to move from vulnerability to resilience through sustainable, community-driven solutions.
National Reach: 36 States and the FCT
ETF’s influence extends beyond direct programme implementation.
Through strategic partnerships and active participation in national policy dialogues, ETF contributes to conversations shaping Nigeria’s development agenda across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
As an active member of national civil society platforms such as the Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN), ETF contributes community perspectives to national strategic planning processes, ensuring that policies reflect the realities and needs of underserved communities.
By bridging grassroots experiences with national decision-making, ETF helps ensure that development policies are inclusive, evidence-based, and responsive to community needs.
Global Fund-Supported Interventions
ETF is proud to contribute to Nigeria’s health response through the implementation of Global Fund-supported initiatives.
ETF through [ACOMIN] The Association of Civil Society Organizations in Malaria Control, Immunization, and Nutrition (often referred to simply as the Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunization, and Nutrition) as a technical service organization, under National Agency for the control of AIDs [NACA], implemented the Global Fund NACA COVID – 19 Response Mechanism Grant [GF NACAC19RM], a community Led Monitoring [CLM] project on [ATM] Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Also through TB Network Nigeria as a Technical Service Organization under the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), ETF is currently implementing a Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) project with core activities centered on strengthening accountability, improving service quality, and amplifying community voices within HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria programmes.
Our work includes:
Through these interventions, communities become active partners in improving healthcare systems rather than passive recipients of services.
Advancing HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Responses
ETF believes that quality healthcare is a fundamental human right.
Our health programmes focus on improving access to equitable, people-centered healthcare through community engagement, health promotion, disease prevention, treatment support, and systems strengthening.
Working alongside government agencies and development partners, ETF promotes integrated approaches that strengthen HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria prevention and control while improving overall health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Promoting Gender Equality and Human Rights
Gender inequality, discrimination, and violence continue to limit opportunities for millions of women, girls, and vulnerable populations.
ETF works to address these structural barriers through comprehensive programmes that promote gender equality, prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), protect human rights, and strengthen survivor support systems.
Our interventions engage women, men, youth, traditional institutions, religious leaders, and community stakeholders in building safer, more inclusive communities where every individual can live with dignity and equal opportunity.
Empowering Women, Youth, and Communities
Economic empowerment remains one of the most sustainable pathways out of poverty.
ETF equips women, young people, and vulnerable households with knowledge, skills, mentorship, and opportunities that strengthen livelihoods and improve economic resilience.
Through entrepreneurship development, leadership training, vocational skills, financial literacy, and community capacity building, we help individuals build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
Building Stronger Communities through Partnership
ETF recognizes that sustainable development cannot be achieved by one organization alone.
We work collaboratively with government institutions, civil society organizations, community-based organizations, faith communities, private sector partners, and international development agencies to maximize collective impact.
These partnerships enable us to leverage resources, strengthen community systems, influence policy, and deliver interventions that create lasting change.
Looking Ahead
As Nigeria continues its journey toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and ending HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria as public health threats, Esther Thelfid Foundation remains committed to expanding its impact through innovation, partnership, and community leadership.
Our vision is to build resilient communities where every individual—regardless of gender, age, social status, or location—has access to quality healthcare, equal opportunities, protection, and the resources needed to thrive.
Together with our partners and the communities we serve, we will continue transforming lives through faith, compassion, and community action.
Influencing Policy, Strengthening Systems
ETF’s impact extends beyond programme implementation. Through active participation in national technical working groups, strategic consultations, and civil society platforms, the Foundation contributes to shaping policies and strengthening systems that improve health equity, gender equality, community accountability, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
ETF serves as an incubator for small and growing businesses, enabling them start as well as nurture them to maturity. ETF trains and retrains, recruits, coaches and mentors Entrepreneurs and Organisations till they have a winning team.
